The energy in a capacitor cannot change abruptly. By the analysis of the formula we can say that  the voltage cannot also change abruptly,
so the voltage in a capacitor is continuous.

By a similar analysis, the energy in a inductor cannot change abruptly, so the current in a inductor is continuous.

Electrical impedance is the measure of the opposition that a circuit presents to the passage of a current when a voltage is applied.

The voltage applied is an AC sinusoidal voltage.

Impedance possedes both amplitude and phase.
