BeagleBoard xM version C has now a DB-9 connector.
No need, unlike older versions, a DB9 to IDC10 serial adapter cable, but need a widely used FTDI based USB to serial adapter.
The settings of the PORT in your PC that is connected to the BeagleBoard should match the ones in the picture below :
Using by example PuTTY software…. but there is more, create a new connection with the settings below :

Check that connection is established
Hit one time <key>enter</key>. You should now see the linux prompt of the single board computer, asking for an user name.
